MICHAEL CHARLES PADGETT

Michael Charles “Charlie” Padgett, 36 passed peacefully away from this life on Saturday, September 25, 2021, in Beaufort, South Carolina.

Charlie was born July 10, 1985 in Beaufort, SC, son of Dianne (Padgett) Dorsten and Michael “Mike” Padgett; and paternal grandparents Alton “Papa” & Margaret “Mimi” Padgett, Port Royal, SC; and maternal grandparents Charles & Ella Fletcher, Richmond Kentucky.

Charlie grew up in Beaufort and attended Beaufort High School and was a Certified Fabrication Welder.   Charlie was a Fine and Visual Artist and an accomplished musician.  Charlie worked for John Deere as a Fabrication Welder until March of 2020.

Charlie is survived by his parents Mike Padgett of Beaufort and his mother Dianne Dorsten of Port Royal, SC; sister, Olivia Padgett, and a very special niece, Ryleigh Padgett-Donella; his step-father Martin Dorsten of Port Royal; his step-sister, Nikki Dorsten; also mourning his loss are many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, and a very special and loving service dog “Zelda” that alerted his father Mike that help was needed immediately

Preceding him in death is his grandfather, Alton “Papa” Padgett, and his grandmother, Ella Fletcher, Richmond, KY.

Charlie was a loving and caring person who touched the lives of all who knew him and who heard his music.  Nothing gave him more joy than spending time playing his guitar(s) with family and friends.  His presence will be greatly missed but his memory will live on with us all.  Charlie was of Baptist faith and was a member of Port Royal Baptist Church, Port Royal, SC.

Charlie proved his strength and determination throughout his life.  He was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes as a very young adult (13 years ago) but the diagnosis didn’t stop him from enjoying life or his family as he was a fighter until the very end.  Charlie left this world and family lovingly by his side.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 11 o’clock at Port Royal Baptist Church, Port Royal, SC

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to the Diabetic Alert Dogs of America @ Donations can be given at 1-800.975.5177.
