The daughter of a successful Wall Street executive and philanthropist, Rudolph H. Deetjen, Marilea was born and raised in Belleville, NJ, and attended schools in Newark.   During World War II she graduated from Vassar College in three years.   It was at this time while on summer vacation that she met her future husband, Arthur Schlobohm, an Army signal corpsman, at the Jersey Shore.   The couple was wed in 1949 and went on to raise three children in Glen Ridge and Montclair, NJ.  Marilea was known for her quick mind and love for investing and fine cooking.  Marilea and Arthur were also avid boaters and sailors and cruised up and down the Atlantic Seaboard several times.   Marilea served in volunteer capacity as Trustee of Planned Parenthood Foundation of Montclair/Newark (NJ) and United Cerebral Palsy Association of NJ.   She also served as President of the Parents Association of Brookside School, Montclair, NJ.   She was an active participant in the local Vassar Club, as well.

Mrs. Schlobohm was predeceased by her husband, who passed on the occasion of their 61st anniversary in 2010.  She leaves behind three children: Kimm Schlobohm of Brant Lake, NY, Arthur (Todd) and Rudy Schlobohm of Beaufort, SC, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A service for Mr. and Mrs. Schlobohm is planned for early April at Glen Ridge Congregational Church in Glen Ridge, NJ.
