Lewis Franklin “Frank” Peters of Beaufort, South Carolina died Friday afternoon, July 19, 2019, at his home with his family by his side.
Frank was born in Lockbourne, Ohio. He is the son of the late John H. Peters and Mary Belle Jones Bradford.
Surviving and left to cherish his memory include his wife Zelda England; daughters Fran (Marvin) Rutter of Pataskala, OH, Debra (Frank) Poling of Lancaster, OH, and Ally Peters of Beaufort, SC; two sisters, Betty Henson of Lancaster, OH and Marcella (Cleve) Cleaveland, of Darden, TN, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, Bob (Vivian) England, Larry (Andrea) England, Jeff England, sisters-in-law Drema (Robert Shireman), Karen Reed, Susan (Truman) Wolfe, Bev (Tim) Grose, special friend and adopted brother Dave Stone and many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends who loved him greatly.
Frank was born on a farm in rural Ohio and had a lifelong love of the outdoors. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, then spent his life as a builder. After retiring and moving to South Carolina, he could not handle the stillness and went back to work. Some of his greatest joys were walking on the beach with his wife, spending time with family and friends, his grand-dog, Sage, listening to music and watching western movies.
He remembered life events by the cars he owned, and never met a Cadillac he did not like. He had a great sense of humor, cared deeply for family and friends, loved the Lord, and will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, July 23, 2019, in the chapel of Copeland Funeral Service—One Copeland Drive. Private burial, with United States Army honors, will be in the Beaufort National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Friends of Caroline Hospice – 1110 13th Street, Port Royal, South Carolina 29935.
