BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA –  James Crawford Coulter, 71, of Beaufort, South Carolina, died July 18, 2013, in the comfort of his home. He was the husband of Barbara (Bobbie) Ward Coulter, and they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. He was born October 19, 1941 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the son of the late John C. Coulter, and Margaret R. Coulter. He attended public school in Cleveland, N.C. and graduated from West Rowan High School. Jim, a graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, was a devoted ACC sports fan, who loved outdoor activities, especially hunting and golf.

A respected banker for many years, he began his career in North Carolina with Wachovia in the 1960’s. Jim and his family moved to Beaufort, South Carolina in 1973, where he continued in banking until his retirement.

In addition to his wife Bobbie, he is survived by their son, John Crawford Coulter II and their two grandchildren, Eliza Jane Coulter and Channing Sinclair Coulter of Hilton Head, South Carolina; his brother, William R. Coulter (Ruth) of Huntsville, Alabama; a sister-in-law, Jennifer Preik (Rein) of Amelia Island, Florida and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at The Parish Church of St. Helena, Beaufort, S.C. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 11 am. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
