Scott Lee Qualls

April 4, 1961 — October 30, 2025

Seabrook

Scott Lee Qualls went home to Jesus on October 30, 2025 at the age of 64.

Scott was born on April 4, 1961, in Akron, Ohio to his parents Doyle and Norma Qualls. He married the love of his life and his best friend, Denise, in Yemassee, South Carolina in 1981. Scott had the profound ability to make Denise laugh, and he deeply admired the way she combined her intelligence and hard work to care for her family and community. In recent years, Scott and Denise could be found together every morning in their sunroom reading their Bibles, drinking coffee, sharing, and laughing. They had 5 wonderful children whom he loved deeply. One of the greatest joys of his life was camping and fishing with them through the years. Scott was always delighted to learn from their unique, individual perspectives over a cigar and a nice view. They will remember him as the man who taught them the value of hard work, the joy of eating a fried chicken gizzard on the drive home, and that love forgives and repairs. He adored his 11 grandchildren who delighted in him as a teacher and a comedian.

Scott worked his entire life with his brother and father for the family home-building company Q- Enterprises. In his later years, Scott came to greatly value the time he spent directly engaging with customers, helping them to design a home or addition that met their needs and desires. But perhaps more than anything, Scott strove to make customers feel seen and valued as people. He excelled at showing the love of God in this way.

Scott held unwavering faith in God throughout his life and was committed to spreading the love of Jesus wherever he went. This love took him around the world to Poland, Ukraine, and South Africa, but the country that held the most special place in his heart was Rwanda. Scott traveled to Rwanda almost every year for nearly a decade and was passionate about teaching younger men to teach the Bible for themselves. Scott was also a beloved Sunday School teacher at Community Bible Church and in recent years Family Bible Fellowship. He will be remembered most for his commitment to the book of I Samuel (most have only ever heard rumors of lessons from other books!) and his ability to take the truths of Scripture and apply their messages to the real-world struggles that he and his class regularly faced. Scott never allowed his audience any illusions that he wasn’t as human and flawed as any of them, and he often illustrated this by sharing personal stories that might have involved you! Through his honesty he built trust, respect, and a community of mutual encouragement and growth. The verse that guided Scott’s life was Matthew 5:16: In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Scott is preceded in death by his father Doyle. He is survived by his wife Denise, his mother, Norma, His brother Bryan, his children Dustin, Michelle, Ashley, Brandon (Llana), and Taylor, and 11 beautiful grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, November 4th at Praise Assembly (800 Parris Island Gateway, Beaufort, SC) where his family and friends will honor his memory and rejoice in the promise of everlasting life.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests that you donate to the work being done in Rwanda with Harvest Alliance International by John and Gladys Mihigo.
