Norma Ruth Baird Stice (79), passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4th, in Arvada, Colorado after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven “Rick” Ridgeway Stice, parents, Cud T. and Ruth (Buchanan) Baird III, brothers Bruce Larkin Baird and Cut T. Baird IV and her sister, Lucinda Lee Boyd. She is survived by her nephews, Wade Thomas Baird and Wesley James Boyd; niece, Sarah Larkin Laman; and great nieces Skylar McKenna Laman and Kendall Morgan Laman.
Norma cherished her time growing up in a military family, moving frequently both domestically and abroad in China, Japan and Taiwan. She loved to recount stories of their travels. She attended college at Louisiana State University following in her parents’ footsteps. Most of her career was spent in education at the University of North Florida where she was an undergraduate advisor and achieved many accolades including the “Outstanding Undergraduate Advisor Award” in 1995. She was a dedicated daughter, sister, aunt and army wife. There was nothing she cherished more than her family, friends and students.
A graveside service for Norma will be held on Friday, September 19th at 1:30 at the Parish Church of St. Helena Cemetery, 505 Church St., Beaufort, SC. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association or the University of North Florida College of Education and Human Services.
