Loretta Mazzetti Swigart

Loretta Mazzetti Swigart, 86, of Beaufort, widow of Larry Carl Swigart, MGySgt USMC (retired), passed on Friday, August 01, 2025, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Loretta was a first-generation Italian American born in Acmetonia, PA to the late Angelo and Judy Paloni Mazzetti. She completed beauty school in 1956 and spent the next 4 decades working as a cosmetologist, taking care of her family and making sure they always had their hair done just right. She moved to Beaufort, SC in1992 and began working at Walmart where she spent the next 20 plus years.

In her time at home, Loretta made sure to have family near. Monday nights were for family dinners and the mornings were for Bob Barker and soap operas. Victor Newman had no comparable or more steady a fan. In her spare time, you could catch her solving crosswords and word jumbles, crocheting a blanket for a loved one or ever so honestly telling you about yourself. She never missed an opportunity to tell her family that she loved them or make sure they were fed. 

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Larry Carl Swigart and her five siblings Jimmy, Anita, Veronica, Eugene and Angelo. She is survived by her children Larry, Laurie (David) Beck, and Linda (Paul) Kreitzer, her daughter-in-law Tawnya Swigart, her grandchildren, Jenni (Wes) Ezzell, Kim (Ryan) Thompson, Jared (Olivia) Kreitzer and Carson Swigart, her sister-in-law Pollyann Osborn, six great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
