Beaufort

Kaitlen “Kaity” Sakura Holbrook, a vibrant and cherished 38-year-old member of the Beaufort community passed away on December 10, 2025, at Memorial Health in Savannah, Georgia after a lengthy battle with addiction. Born on July 5, 1987, in Beaufort, South Carolina, Kaity was the beloved daughter of Allen and Kathleen Holbrook. Kaity was a true Lowcountry girl whose spirit was as wild and beautiful as the land she cherished.

Kaity was truly an embodiment of joy, known to many for the effervescent personality she exhibited, beaming with colors as numerous as the different shades she dyed her hair and her nails done to perfectly match. Driven by her gentle spirit and fearless demeanor, Kaity spread love wherever her path led her. She attended the Beaufort County Schools over the years, establishing roots in a community she loved. Kaity had a zest for life that was truly contagious and her personality could light up any room. She loved being outdoors, whether it was camping, swimming, crabbing, or fishing. Kaity loved all animals and her dream was to live on a farm surrounded by the animals she adored. As an avid Carolina Gamecocks fan, her enthusiasm brought joy and vitality to everyone around her. Her greatest joy and source of pride, however, were her three beautiful children, Taylor, Landon, and Caroline, who brought an immeasurable amount of happiness and fulfillment to her existence. Her love for them, infinite.

When in sobriety, Kaity was a passionate advocate for recovery. Kaity volunteered her time with Narcotics Anonymous, sharing her journey and encouraging others to seek help, find their path to recovery, and raise spiritual awareness with Jesus.

Kaity was preceded in death by her loving daddy, Allen Holbrook, her grandparents Barbara Cooper, Maxine Palmer, and Ralph Palmer, her great-grandmother Bertha Huffman and her cherished cousin, Cade Moyer.

Kaity is survived by her three adoring children: Taylor Bonk, Timothy “Landon” Bonk, and Caroline Bonk, along with their father, Timothy “Brian” Bonk. Her mother, Kathleen Holbrook (Steven Long Jr.) and her father, Robert Palmer. Further family includes her grandparents Robert and Aiko O’Neill, and her siblings Kevin Szabo, Aimee Claffey (Sonnie), and Austin Holbrook (Kimberly), her nephew, Theodore Claffey and her niece, Alice Holbrook as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.

A memorial service honoring her life will begin at 2:00 PM on December 29, 2025, at Copeland Funeral Home, 1 Copeland Drive, Beaufort, South Carolina. Following the service, family and friends are welcome to gather at VFW Post 8760 located at 37 Castle Rock Road, Beaufort, for a Celebration of Life event to continue honoring Kaity's vivid and joyful life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Copeland Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses, or, as a fitting tribute to Kaity's love of animals, to an animal shelter of your preference.

The family deeply appreciates your kind expressions of sympathy during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are cherished as they navigate this profound loss. Kaity’s fearless spirit, unwavering loyalty, and infectious laughter, as well as the love she held for her three beloved children will forever live on, she is at peace now and forever in our hearts.
