John Scott Bowman

John Scott Bowman, 68, of Saint Helena Island, died Monday, September 15, 2025.

Scott was born December 27, 1956 in Miami, FL and he grew up in Rio, FL. He resided most of his adult life in Jefferson, GA. He retired, in 2012, from Athens Clarke County Leisure Services, Athens, GA. Since that time, he enjoyed his retirement with his wife in Saint Helena, SC

Scott is survived by his wife, Patricia Smith Bowman; daughter Caroline Lynsey Resop-Bowman (Alex); son Sam Decatur Preston (Julie); brother Thomas Hubbell (Debbie); grandchildren, Landon Resop, Maxwell and Eleanor Resop-Bowman, and Kepa Preston; and nieces and nephews.

Scott will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Copeland Funeral Service is assisting the Bowman family with arrangements.
