Jeanne G Wasson, age 81, of Dataw Island, SC, passed away Sunday November 30, 2025. She was born September 16, 1944 in Boston MA.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years John Wasson, her parents Raymond and Hattie Gemmel, and brother Raymond Gemmel.

She is survived by her treasured family, stepchildren David (Michele) Wasson, Susan (James) Schultz and Carol Wasson, grandchildren Michael Wasson, Justin Schultz, Kelsey (Isaiah) Roe Colton (Lauren) Schultz and great grandchildren, Rylee Roe, Frankie Schultz and Jesse Roe.

Jeanne was raised in the Bellevue Hill Section of Boston. She attended Mt. St. Mary’s College in New Hampshire and graduated with a BA in education. Jeanne later held various positions in hospitality management and retail sales in Chicago. While Jeanne maintained her strong roots in her hometown of Boston, she created special connections during her and John’s time living in the Chicago area and created another network of extended family.

In retirement Jeanne and John moved from Chicago to Dataw Island, SC where Jeanne was involved in various volunteer activities such as Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics, American Cancer Society and reading at a local island school. She enjoyed travel and spending time with family, friends and her godchildren. Jeanne and John were the ultimate hosts, making everyone who came into their orbit feel “at home” and like they were family. Jeanne would regale family and friends with stories of life and living.
