Frederick de Rosset Strong, 100, passed away early Thanksgiving morning, November 27, 2014.
He is survived by his wife Lois Blaikie Strong; a sister Mary Louise Rhodes of Washington State; his sons Michael D. Strong (Nancy) of Chapel Hill, NC and Jeremy Strong of Hampstead NC; grandchildren Morgan, Hunter, Summer, and Tanner Strong; stepsons James C Blaikie (Eve), William Joseph Blaikie (Forella) and granddaughter Isabella Marie Blaikie.
Frederick graduated from Washington & Lee University, Cum Laude, Class of 1935. He served in the United States Navy during WWI as a Lieutenant Commander. A brilliant financial followed with Vick chemical, West Point Pepperell (Comptroller), and McCalls Publishing as treasurer.
After retiring in 1973 on moving to Beaufort, SC he applied his skills as President of the Alzheimer's Support Group, treasure of Beaufort Little Theater, CODA and Beaufort Harbormasters. In 1994, he was awarded the Humanitarian of the Year Award for his work with CODA. He acted in many plays was a singer and lector at his church.
Frederick was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Angell Strong, second wife Manuella P. Strong and his daughter Lauren Strong.
A funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Friday, December 5, 2014, at the Parish Church of St. Helena, 505 Church Street, Beaufort, SC. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
