LADY'S ISLAND - Eileene J. Howard, 86, of Lady's Island and wife of Paul Howard, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at her residence.
Born on November 7, 1928, in South Bend, Indiana, she was the youngest of 13 children.
After dropping out of high school her sophomore year, she later obtained a BA in Education and a MA in Guidance & Counseling. An active Christian all her life she attended Golden Gate Seminary. She married Paul Howard in 1971. As a career Marine's wife she travelled all over the U.S and overseas. Eileene volunteered as a family counselor in her churches and tutored underprivileged/special needs children in English and reading. Eileene and her husband moved to Beaufort in 1993. She is a member of The Baptist Church of Beaufort and the Christian Women's Club. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, and crafting. She loved to decorate the house for the holidays and seasons, and make things pretty for Paul and the family.
Surviving are her husband, Paul Howard; four daughters, Linda Lawrence, Susanne Zimmerman, Kathleen Lawrence and Daria Wyatt; an adopted daughter, Jackie Manor; niece, Nora Ray; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, January 20, 2015, at The Baptist Church of Beaufort.
