Betty Jean Bearden, 94, of Beaufort and formally of Seneca, died Monday, May 11, 2026 at her residence.

Born in Oconee County, SC and was a daughter of the late Edward JC and Flora Morton Shirley. Betty Jean was a member of Utica Baptist Church, Seneca, SC and was retired form Jacobs Chuck, Clemson, SC. She was predeceased by siblings Marian Epps, Ruth Price, Donald “Sonny” Shirley, Ostell Shirley, Harold Shirley and Jammie Shirley

Betty Jean is survived by a daughter Norma Jean Peters; a granddaughter Shannan Musgrave and husband Robert; three great grandsons, and two great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:00 noon, Thursday, May 14th at Oconee Memorial Park Chapel, 1923 Blue Ridge Blvd., Seneca, SC 29672. A funeral service for Betty Jean will follow at 12:00 noon Thursday. Burial will be held following the service in Oconee Memorial Park.
